About Kristen

Kristen is a senior Musculo skeletal physiotherapist who graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2002.  Previous to this, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at the University of Otago.  She has spent five years in Melbourne working in public (Monash Medical Centre) and private health (Dynamic Stability Physio and Pilates Studio).

During this time, she specialised in and completed her Certification in Polestar Rehabilitation Pilates. She has enjoyed working in women’s health and with ante and post-natal women.  She combined these skills with Pilates and ran classes for the well know “Fit to Deliver” company.

Kristen moved to London and spent three years working on Harley Street, working closely with top consultants in neurosurgery and Orthopedics.  She provided physiotherapy for spinal and postural related conditions, pre and post-surgery rehabilitation, soft tissue injuries, pelvic pain, and ante and post-natal problems.

Kristen also worked with actors and dancers performing in the West End, The National Theatre and with students training at musical theatre academies.  This is an area she is passionate about from her previous dance training.

Kristen is now based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and works at Core Physio and Pilates private practice as well as providing physiotherapy at the Victorian College of Arts Secondary School.

Her primary focus is on educating the client about injury prevention and empowering them to achieve their goals. She believes clinical pilates can benefit people of all ages and abilities to maintain a healthy well-balanced lifestyle.

 How Does it Work?

When you call you will speak directly with the physiotherapist in order to establish yours needs and whether they can be met by One Physio and Pilates.

The initial home or office visit and subsequent visits will last a minimum of one hour.

Whether you require acute or chronic injury management or an individualised clinical pilates programme, a full history and bio mechanical assessment will be completed.

The findings of your assessment will be discussed along with management options.
Treatment, goals and frequency of visits will be set in consultation with you.

Do I need any equipment?

FOR PILATES

If you do not have any equipment yourself the physiotherapist will bring this for your use during your session e.g. mat, foam roller, theraband, magic circle. However, if you have some equipment I am sure we can utilise this.

All you need is a towel and plenty of water and an enthusiastic attitude!

FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY

The physiotherapist can provide a fold away plinth/massage table for your benefit and to enable the most effective treatment.

You can provide a pillow and towel for a more comfortable treatment.

Strapping tape and an additional equipment which you may need to aid your recovery will be discussed and may be purchased at an addition cost.
